Applications Closed - Senior Electricity Market Analyst


We are looking for a full-time Senior Electricity Trading Analyst to be based in our Edinburgh office. Reporting to the Chief Economist & Head of Government Affairs, you will be responsible for monitoring and advising on the global energy market by leveraging all relevant industry research and electricity market data available, deriving and reporting key insights that are relevant to our energy as a service business model. You will be someone who is passionate about enabling the low carbon energy transition.


  • Analysing energy market data and trends with a focus on identifying price and volume drivers for energy as a service business models

  • Creating optimisation models for forecasting grid service and energy as a service pricing including building ex poste mark to market analysis frameworks

  • Designing and developing analytical tools/ algorithms to support energy as a service and VRE curtailment market modelling

  • Creating energy market reports

  • Supporting internal clients across Faraday ensuring collaboration and maximum impact

  • Supporting development of external facing marketing collateral


  • Love the energy, intensity and excitement of a fast-growing company in a sector undergoing significant transition

  • Have an excellent understanding of power generation, wholesale electricity markets, decentralised energy, renewables market development and prevailing and go forward policy framework

  • Have experience in an energy trading environment involving modelling the power, gas and carbon markets in Europe/ US/ APAC, and a proven track record in developing innovative and impactful trading and analytical solutions to a complex and evolving regulatory framework

  • Enjoy modelling and developing market forecasting and trading algorithms, and portfolio asset optimisation tools, for electricity/ energy sector – mixed integer programming, linear programming, stochastic simulation, Python, Java, SQL

  • Have experience of creating, shaping and transacting electricity products in the liquid window - particularly with respect to the balancing and ancillary services market

  • Understand the regulatory framework, licenses and grid codes

  • Demonstrate reliability, transparency, open-mindedness, aspiration and rigour

  • Are without ego, with excellent collaboration, team working, oral and written communication skills

  • Can work independently and proactively to a high standard
