The opportunity

We are looking for a candidate to take up the role of VP, Regulatory Affairs – North America based in our Washington DC, US office on a full-time basis with a requirement for very regular travel across North American markets. Reporting to the Chief Economist and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for developing and driving regulatory compliant business models that underpin our business in the energy and tech industry. Your will be responsible for anticipating external changes that may influence the direction of North American electricity policy development, advising the business of threats and opportunities; and providing advocacy and relationship management of external stakeholders such as the Regulator, industry bodies, electricity network companies and system operator(s), and trade associations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and drive regulatory compliant Faraday Grid Energy as a Service business models primarily with respect to disaggregated electricity markets affecting North America working closely with commercial and technical teams key focus areas include identifying value streams from:

o   Consumer affordability

o   Balancing markets 

o   Transmission System Operation and Ancillary Services provision 

o   Distribution Network Operation and the evolution of local flexibility markets 

o   Network Charging

o   Capacity Markets

o   Carbon pricing 

Responsible for preparation of regulatory submissions on behalf of Faraday for consultations that impact our business.

Regulatory strategy planning.

Provide a clear vision about energy, tech and transactive markets and industry policy framework and direction in North America.

Provide leadership, direction and oversight to manage deviation events that may impact compliance status or create business risk.

Develop and maintain external relationships with relevant opinion leaders and regulatory officials.

Establish and lead a team of local regulatory specialists in key Faraday Grid markets across North America.

 Skills and qualifications

Preferably postgraduate degree in economics, finance or legal.

Five to ten of relevant experience gained in industry, consulting, government policy or regulatory.

Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical and presentation skills

Experience in North American Regulatory processes.
