Dr Derek Boyd, Marketing Director for UK at Faraday Grid joins the Board of the Power Networks Demonstration Centre
Edinburgh-based energy technology company Faraday Grid and PNDC are collaborating to develop technology that will transform electricity networks
Dr Derek Boyd, Marketing Director for UK at Faraday Grid has joined the Board of the Power Networks Demonstration Centre (“PNDC”), the leading UK research and demonstration centre supporting the development of a ‘smart’ electricity grid.
Edinburgh-based energy technology company Faraday Grid are commercialising patented technology that will enable existing electricity networks to best deliver affordable energy, maintain network stability and increase the integration of renewables.
The company has already made extensive use of the Power Networks Demonstration Centre to prove the technical viability of its Faraday Exchanger technology – a hardware device to improve performance and efficiency of existing networks while being significantly cheaper than the sum of the technologies it replaces.
Dr Boyd, Marketing Director for UK at Faraday, said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Power Networks Demonstration Centre’s Board.
The Centre and its state of the art facilities were a significant factor in Faraday Grid choosing to establish their global headquarters in Edinburgh, as well as the region’s world-class engineering heritage and the talent pool of local universities.
It’s an exciting time for both organisations and we continue to collaborate to bring Faraday Grid technology to commercial deployment”
Alan Dunn, Chief Operating Officer at PNDC, said: “It’s fantastic to be working with such a disruptive innovator as The Faraday Grid and we warmly welcome Derek to our Board.
