Peter Lo, MBA, BENG

Chief Operating Officer

With over 20 years of experience, Peter has held executive positions across the life-cycle of power assets including M&A, joint ventures, green/ brown field project development, PR, portfolio asset management, construction, commissioning and operations with broad international experience. He was formerly the Director of New Energy for a large vertically integrated utility covering scouting, scanning and catalysing of new business models and technologies across Asia Pacific.

DEREK BOYD, bSc eee, mba, msc, d.univ

Director of Marketing UK

Having previously been the Chief Executive of TechWorks (formerly NMI) since 2001, Derek joined the management team in Faraday Grid in Oct-2017. 

Derek graduated in from Paisley College of Technology in 1984 with a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and completed a Master of Business Administration from Strathclyde Graduate Business School in 1994 and an MSc in Management Practice (Leadership Communication) from The Edinburgh Institute in 2015.  Derek is also Doctor of the University of Glasgow having been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in 2010.

Luca Mezossy-Dona, ma (hons)

Communications Co-ordinator

Luca graduated with a first-class Honours Psychology degree and Dean’s List award from the University of St Andrews.

In addition to English, Luca is fluent in Hungarian, her mother tongue, and speaks French.

patryk pociask Beng (Hons)

electrical engineer

Patryk attended Edinburgh Napier University, where he received his BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering. His final year Project, ‘Living Environment Advanced Control System’ based on PLC, SCADA and Webpages, included the design and development of an intelligent home control system using PLC technology and IEC1131-3 suit of languages, as well as a user interface for HMI and user-defined webpage to remotely monitor and control the system.

Daniel Dan, PHD E.Eng

Senior Electrical ENGINEER

Daniel received his PhD and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering, and his Bachelor's in Mathematics and Applied Informatics in Engineering from University Politehnica of Bucharest in Romania. For most of his career following his Master’s degree Daniel worked as a Research Engineer at INCDIE-ICPE CA in Bucharest. Active in academia, Daniel has published numerous ISI articles.


Leong Kit Gan, PHD

Senior control Engineer

Leong Kit received his Master’s and PhD in sustainable energy at The University of Edinburgh. Between 2016 and 2018, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, working on intelligent control of decentralised energy systems. Previously, he worked for Altera and Motorola. His research interests include modelling and control of power electronics, energy storage and renewable energy systems.


Oliver Forsyth

Research Analyst

Oliver graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2018 with a MA in Economics with Management Science with first-class honours. In 2018-17 he established the research/consulting branch of the University of Edinburgh Economics Society and also held the position of Consumer Sector Head for the University’s Trade and Investment Club. Oliver brings enthusiasm and rigour to learning and knowledge to his role as a Research Analyst at Faraday Grid.

Oliver also has a passion for martial arts, having trained in three different countries with a total of nine years of experience.

Jim Darroch

Chief Supply Chain Officer

Jim has 30 years of experience in engineering  and manufacturing supply chain, working directly with world-leading global technology companies. Prior to joining Faraday Grid, Jim was Vice President of European Operations at Foxconn Electronics in the Czech Republic, leading large-scale end-to-end supply operations and several business transformation projects.

Emilia has co-authored 3 patents and published a number of articles in advanced topics in electrical engineering. Emilia has also been a speaker at related conferences.

Jennifer Urquhart

VP of Governance

Jen received her BA in Financial services in 1999. With over 19 years of financial and compliance experience gained in financial institutions, Jen joined Faraday Grid in June 2018 in order to fulfil an expanding role within governance.

Jen is passionate about teamwork and coaching people’s best attributes to achieve teamwork to the highest standards.

elizabeth macharia, BENG MSC MIET

Elizabeth acquired her MSc in Electrical Power Systems at the University of Bath, with distinction on her dissertation, titled "The Graphical Display of Big Data in a Modern Electrical Power System; and received her B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Brighton.

Elizabeth is passionate about developing sustainable energy solutions for developing regions.

jagadeesh GUNDA, phd power systems (final yr)

Jagadeesh received his Bachelor's and Master's in Electrical Engineering from Kakatiya University and NIT Durgapur, India, after which he has been working as a senior electrical engineer. He is presently finalizing his PhD work on “Security Analysis of Modern Electricity Networks” at Institute for Energy Systems, University of Edinburgh, UK.  His research interests include nonlinear optimization, computational intelligence, electricity networks modelling and analysis with Faraday Exchangers, electricity markets, statistical signal processing and cyber-physical security.

Xiao Xu, PhD

Electrical Engineer

Xiao received his M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Edinburgh. His research interests include power quality, signal processing, power electronics, and electricity network modelling.

Robbie McGregor

Chief of Staff to the CEO

A journalist graduate from Edinburgh Napier University, Robbie joined the U.S. Consulate General Edinburgh as Programs and Engagement Manager.  He was responsible for the U.S. Government’s strategic communications and outreach in Scotland, and also covered the Consulate’s political and economic portfolios. Robbie’s job was to provide strategic advice and guidance on all Scottish matters to senior American diplomats, including the U.S. Government’s representative for Scotland and the U.S. Ambassador to the UK.

Gemma Morrison

People Business Partner

Gemma completed her HR Management degree in 2007 and has since become CIPD qualified and gained 11 years HR experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Prior to joining Faraday she was HR Business Partner at Anthemis, a fintech VC in London.

Richard dowling

Chief Economist & Head of Government Affairs

A strong background in economics and public policy, with senior experience at the highest levels of industry and government. A former Chief Economist of a peak employer body and Senior Economic and policy Adviser to an Australian Premier. In 2014, he was selected by the US Ambassador to the prestigious invitation-only US State Department's International Visiting Leaders Program.

Rod buchanan, m eng

HEAD of PRODUCT

Rod is an aerospace engineer and technical manager with over 17 years of experience in agile research & development of software & control system concepts for aircraft, driven by emergent business and customer needs.

Between 2011 and 2016, Rod was the lead engineer on the first flight of a large, remotely piloted aircraft through UK airspace and has since been granted a number of related patents.

Rafael obtained his electrical and electronic engineer PhD degree with highest qualification, “Cum-Laude” at University Carlos III of Madrid. Rafael filled noteworthy roles in research, having worked as a research associate at the University of Manchester, and as a research assistant at the University Carlos III of Madrid; Spain.

Alexandros kleidaras, Meng phd (final yr)

While working at the Faraday Grid, Alex is also a PhD Candidate in Energy Systems at the University of Edinburgh. He also holds a Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering, specialised in Power Systems. Alex has been extensively involved with research, having been a research associate and a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, Institute for Energy Systems, studying load analysis, clustering, modelling and state estimation for Demand Side Response, Virtual Power Plants, Low Voltage networks, and Electric Vehicles.

Fuxin zhou Beng Msc

control systems engineer

Fuxin completed his Master’s degree in Signal Processing and Communication at the University of Edinburgh. Before that he attended the University of Southampton, where he received his BEng with Distinction on his final year dissertation, titled ‘Data Fusion Turbo Coded Wireless Sensor Network’.

Esther Hwang, MSC

Senior Electrical Engineer

Esther Hwang is a recent graduate of University of Edinburgh's Sustainable Energy Systems MSc programme. Prior to moving to Edinburgh from Southern California, she acquired over five years of project management and modelling experience at Southern California Edison, including projects involving demand response, electric vehicles, battery storage, and blackstart. Her undergraduate degree is from Harvey Mudd College in electrical engineering, with a focus on control theory and signal processing.

Kingsley Taveau, MEng

Electrical Engineer

Kingsley received his MEng in Sustainable Energy from the University of Edinburgh, where he developed an interest in technologies that enable increased renewable energy penetration within the constraints of the energy trilemma. This led him to his final year thesis on ultra-high temperature thermal energy storage, which enables grid-to-heat and heat-to-grid energy transfer
